The latest Sony Vaio P comes with accelerometer, touchpad and PS3 remote play

Sony has updated their Vaio P portable computer lineup. With the rapid increase in netbook market, Sony is trying not to categorize their VAIO devices under netbook instead they’re referring their devices as something between laptop and smartphone.

The latest VAIO P device is truly ultra portable device having a weight of 1.32 lbs (619 grams). In addition to the basic features, this latest VAIO P comes with accelerometer and touchpad. Having these new features would mean that the user can flip vertically to read documents and e books and can move it backwards or forwards to shfit to web browsing features. The new VAIO P is geared with optical trackpad at the bottom right corner of the screen bezel. The original trackpoint and mouse buttons remain in their usual positions for more traditional operations.

The refreshed VAIO P device also comes with the following features:

  • Intel Atom Z540 processor
  • 802.11 b/g/n WiFi
  • Bluetooth and 3G connectivity
  • 0.31mpix Camera
  • 8 inch LCD screen with 1600×768 pixel resolution
  • 2 Gbytes RAM
  • 64 Gbytes solid state drive (SSD)
  • 2 USB ports
  • Webcam with accompanying microphone and stereo speakers

The latest VAIO P is the first in the Vaio P lineup to bring to the world the PS3 remote player. This means that one will be able to access all his PS3 content and also recorded TV programs from the Vaio P.

The upgraded Vaio P will retail in June 2010 for $800 and will be available in 5 spring colors, black, green, orange, pink and white.
